Judo terminology
Like all interests, Judo has it's own words and phrases for all the different aspects of the sport. The words are of Japanese origin and many are shared with other martial arts. Below is a selection of those used the most, but it certainly isn't exhaustive.

| Awase-Te-Ippon | Point. Referees word if contestant scores two half points |
| Awase-Waza | Two hold points |
| Banbutsu-Ruten | All things in the universe are in constant motion |
| Budo | Martial way |
| Bujutsu | Martial Arts |
| Bushido | Way of the warrior |
| Butsukari | Special form of Randori one performs the attacking actions, usually a student with a teacher |
| Cho-Wa Chowasure | Harmonious mental or physical reaction during practice |
| Chu-ii | Referee terminology. penalty |
| Chu-Can-Setsu | Elbow lock |
| Daki-Age | Point by raising opponent, shoulder height from ground |
| Daki-Wakare | Daki-To scoop up. Wakari-Throw to the side |

| De-Ashi-Barai | Advancing foot sweep |
